About

Shaunael Milton is a third-year student at Loyola Marymount University pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in English and a double minor in Journalism and Public Relations. She is seeking an internship in health, media, or corporate public relations. Shaunael believes informative storytelling is important to society and is pursuing internships in journalism as well. Additionally, Shaunael is interested in the legal system to help best support her ambitions for improving patient care in the healthcare system. She believes that through a Journalism and Public Relations career, she can inform and uplift communities while providing cultural context. She wants to use storytelling to explore environmentalism, health, and all things related to human culture. She believes people should have access to information and that underrepresented communities deserve to have their voices heard.
Shaunael recently finished her summer internship with Allied Global Marketing’s multicultural division. There, she attended internal meetings about various titles the team was working on and wrote agendas. She also wrote a couple articles and pitches to advertise for upcoming projects. On the more technical side, she would scan for news and social links on Google, learning how to use a search optimization engine.
Before this latest internship, Shaunael interned at an independent Black-owned company focused on diversity in media, in which she would attend pre-screenings, premiers, and other entertainment events. She learned to research, curate relevant yet interesting interviews, write articles, and edit. Shaunael also had previous experiences in PR and Journalism at CLD PR and Modern Luxury. In addition to the internships listed, Shaunael volunteers with a service organization at LMU, Belles, which focuses on domestic violence. These experiences shaped her passion for people and ensuring they have the resources needed.
While attaining multiple work and internship positions, Shaunael has stayed on the dean’s list for her first two years of college. She hopes to continue down this path and attain more experience before moving on to Graduate or Law school.
